1.Welcome

Located in the near center of Sapporo, at an elevation of 531 meters Mt. Moiwa is the famous sightseeing spot for its amazing view. The mountain is known as a treasure of nature surrounded by deep virgin forest offering rich green and autumn leaves from spring to autumn and a spectacular snowscape in winter.

It attracts tourists all year round. From the observation platform located on the peak, you can marvel at the superb view of not only the city of Sapporo but also the sea of Japan along the Ishikari bay and Mashike Shokanbetsu mountain range. The view in the sunset and night is so romantic. You will be mesmerized by the blanket of shining night lights of the city.

October 2015
Sapporo-shi was chosen as the second place next to Nagasaki; with Kobe-shi as the third place acknowledged as the new three major night views of Japan.

The biggest attraction of Mt. Moiwa is the night view of Sapporo city which you can enjoy from the ropeway and observation platform on the peak.
When you take the return ropeway, you will feel like you are sinking into the 1.9 million populated city of Sapporo.
The summer offers a beautiful night view, but winter offers a very pristine winter sky to compliment the superb view.

In March 2016 the view of the moon from Mt. Moiwa was designated as one of the JAPAN 100 moons, and has captivated many people.
